Latest from Hawaii Climate Change Negotiations: Nothing yet..
We’ve been preparing ourselves for a big non-story this week as the world’s biggest emitters of green-house gasses meet in Hawaii for more pre-talks about the successor to the Kyoto treaty.
However, it looks as if we are going to have to continue thinking up opinions of our own to fill the pages of TalkClimateChange after […]
Climate Change - who is right and are we wrong?
Two letters were written by two sets of credible scientists last week and addressed to the UN. One letter urged action to combat global warming by reducing Co2 emissions, and the other urged leaders to ignore the previous letter and focus on more pressing priorities instead. (see below for links and highlights)
It is clearly a […]

Discussions at Bali got off to a shaky start today after the United States confirmed that it will refuse any mention of emission reduction targets within a draft UN agreement. The agreement is expected to be the focus of this week’s discussion as the Bali conference enters the real negotiation phase.
The draft agreement calls on nations to […]

With some irony, between 15,000 and 20,000 politicians, officials, activists and journalists will have flown this weekend to Bali, putting serious strain on the islands resources to attend the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
All expectations are that nothing tangible will result beyond making some vague agreements over future plans. Many people will […]
Protect the Rainforests, but be wary of double standards
Uncontrolled logging in the Indonesian Rainforest is causing serious damage to natural habitats and local populations according to a report by the Environmental Investigation Agency today. Despite years of “save the rainforests” campaigning, immense environmental damage is still being inflicted on these precious world resources. We cannot decry this strongly enough.
But it got us thinking.
