		<description>Good article Daryl, but I think there is more to it than gaining a poster child for climate change. Once the polar bear is declared endangered, it effectively takes drilling for oil in Alaska and Northern Canada off the table. That is the ultimate prize! 

It was tried when the original oil pipeline was being planned, then using Caribou as the threatened species. Didn't work because it's difficult to portray a herd of thousands as being endangered, but Polar Bears are another story. They hunt alone, making it easy to get great topical pictures, and then there's Knut. Wanna bet he again takes center stage in their campaign?</description>
