Attidudes, education and opinion
As we prepare to kick-off 2008, here is an excellent snippet from Andrew Revkin of Dot Earth which definitely provides some perspective on the discussions on TalkClimateChange..
Climate change alarmism again
As we mentioned in our piece on climate extremism and on the rights and wrongs of the climate change argument, there are those who do no favours to their point of view through biased reporting of the facts.
A recent post on DeSmogBlog is a great example of this:
Back from holiday
and back to the real world.
Still catching up on the news right now having been completely disconnected for a week, so stay tuned for more posts in the next day or so.

TalkClimateChange is on holiday
We are sorry to leave you, but we are taking a Christmas holiday and will be back on 30th December.
We will not be offsetting our emissions, although we are not traveling too far..
Wishing you all a very merry holiday season,
TalkClimateChange.
Climate extremists – please keep it real
Call them extremists, alarmists or fanatics, the climate change debate suffers from its fair share of those who are counterproductive and prevent progress and understanding by the propagation of extreme views.
This is a serious issue in current times as our elected leaders begin to make important decisions which may have profound impacts on our future. The […]
Bush implements hard targets with energy bill
Against expectations US President George Bush has signed a bill mandating a 35mpg fleet average for the American auto industry to be achieved by 2020 amongst other measures aimed at reducing US Co2 emissions.
EU encourages aviation, but gets heavy on cars
EU ministers are set to agree a deal which will see aircraft emissions continue to rise, and potentially offer a large cash bonus to airlines.
Environmental campaigners will be unsatisfied with a scheme which is likely to do little to reduce emissions, while the rest of us can grumble at funding another EU bureaucratic nightmare which […]
Is sea level rise worse than terrorism?
Amid repeated claims of climate change alarmism from climate sceptics, a new study published in Nature Geoscience claims that sea level rise this century could be double that previously predicted by the IPCC.
This news comes amid a British Government report warning that the UK needs to treat risk of flooding with the same level of […]
Climate Change - who is right and are we wrong?
Two letters were written by two sets of credible scientists last week and addressed to the UN. One letter urged action to combat global warming by reducing Co2 emissions, and the other urged leaders to ignore the previous letter and focus on more pressing priorities instead. (see below for links and highlights)
It is clearly a […]
Sceptics Display an Exquisite Sense of Timing!
Your Green team enjoyed this post from DeSmogBlog which is another example of the continuous ding-dong going on between the believers and non-believers.
Some 94 skeptics published a letter in the National Post declaring that:
“[D]espite computer projections of temperature rises, there has been no net global warming since 1998. That the current temperature plateau follows a […]
Guest Post: Myths, lies and deceptions of climate change
Your TalkClimateChange Red team have recently been a little disappointed at the performance of many of our fellow global warming skeptics having read too many bold statements which are ill supported by evidence.
So we are pleased to be able to bring you a guest post from Matthew Sann of the Glowarming Skeptics blog which presents […]
Final Score from Bali - all losers
With the Bali summit finally wrapped up we’ve been reading mixed messages from around the world. Some news outlets are reporting a positive conclusion with the signing of an acceptable deal at the 11th hour, with others taking a more critical view of the results.
So what happened, and what does it mean? Here is our […]
Latest Bali fun and games
Latest news from Bali indicates that a deal may well be possible as the negotiations run in to extra time.
U.N. climate chief Yvo de Boer believes that a deal is certain. ”Absolutely. The only question is how long is it going to take to get, how long we will have to stay up to wait […]
EU threatens discussion boycott, Pope joins the debate
Just as we were getting bored of talking about Bali the European Union has added some additional drama, threatening to boycott further talks if the United States continues to”block progress”. The EU claims that attending the next exotic climate meeting in Hawaii next month would be pointless if the US continues to reject the current […]
Kyoto 2 - the worst case scenario
UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon made a rousing speech at the Bali Climate Summit yesterday, outlining the necessity for urgent action by all nations to combat climate change.
“The science is clear. Climate change is happening. The impact is real. The time to act is now.”
“By being creative, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions while promoting […]
